Depending on your age, I’m sure you’ve tried a thousand different diets throughout the years with some of them working for you and others…probably not so much! And yet, most of us still continue to search for the perfect diet to help us lose weight and get healthy.
So, what if I told you that there’s a perfect diet that will not only help you get healthy—but it will actually help you get healthy so that you CAN lose weight, especially if you have a lot of belly fat.
The reason you’re not losing weight even though you’re only eating one romaine lettuce leaf a day is because you have insulin resistance due to a poor functioning liver.
Simply put, your hormones are out of whack! And sadly, this doesn’t only apply to middle aged people.
Years ago, I would have said if you were middle aged with a lot of belly fat- you have insulin resistance. Fast forward to our modern day, high carb diet, I’m seeing a huge percentage of kids, teens, and young adults with a lot of belly fat too.
But don’t despair! This is an easy fix. If you want to lose the belly fat, you’ve gotta cut the carbs. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I’ve got three. perfect. little. words that can help you do that—A Ketogenic diet.
What is a Ketogenic Diet?
A Ketogenic diet is a way of eating that focuses on consuming a minimal amount of carbohydrates, a moderate amount of protein, and a great amount of healthy fats to help you reduce insulin levels so that your body can enter into nutritional ketosis.
What is Ketosis?
Ketosis is when your body stops using sugar for fuel (the energy you need to make your body work) and begins to use fat for fuel instead. When it uses fat for fuel, it releases ketones, which puts your body in a state of ketosis.
How Do You Get Started
When you make the decision that you REALLY want to get healthier and/or lose weight, you will have to make some changes to your eating habits to achieve those goals. The diet isn’t necessarily hard; however, meal planning can be challenging. Therefore, I’ve put together a some graphics to show you what to buy the next time you go grocery shopping.
What to Eat on a Ketogenic Diet
Below, I’ve used some eye catching graphics to help you quickly identify proteins, vegetables, and healthy fats so that you can start this diet as soon as you’re ready.
However, keep in mind that when eating proteins, vegetables, and healthy fats, you need to be sure to follow the standard Keto recommendations to ensure success.
Generally fruits are high in carbs so I recommend that you refrain from eating them.
As you can see, starting a Ketogenic diet is pretty simple as long as you don’t over think it. During each meal, just consume a an extremely small amount of carbs, a small portion of protein and a lot of high quality fats,a and voila! Within days, you should be in Ketosis and burning fat for fuel instead of storing it around your belly.
Discalimer- Following a Ketogenic diet is not necessarily meant to be a life long commitment. You can do it for one week or one year-it’s totally up to you and depends on what your goals are.
